Thoroughly enjoyed an Easter brunch with my family this morning! Food was delicious! a very varied, eclectic menu! Can't wait to go back for lunch and dinner sometime to try some of the wonderfully enticing dishes! Bloody Mary bar was awesome! I loved my Huevos Rancheros, and my granddaughter had a stack of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever seen! AND, they try to use only local vegetables and free range meats. Definitely heading back!

This place, hands down, is great! Quite a little jem in East Norriton. Food was superb and service even better. Small but excellent wine selection and plenty for the beer aficionado. Environmentally friendly too. Do not be discouraged by the exterior; this place has a lot to offer at a reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Food is unbelievable and great prices. He has something for everyone even kids. I typically get the fish wraps and French fries which are awesome. The place is clean and fresh. The new patio is a great addition.

We stopped into Guppy's II for drinks and appetizers before our reservations at Bluefin. We had the fresh, handmade guacamole in the stone bowl with chips. I like to try this at restaurants that offer it. It is a good gauge of how they do the rest of the menu. As we spoke with the bartender she stated they have no freezers only walk in refrigerators. All the food is delivered and made fresh daily. Anything left over is the next day special. I am a big beer guy and like crafts. I asked for Evil Genius, Forsaken but they were changing the keg. I asked the bartender to recommend something. She recommended a pumpkin ale that is topped with a brown sugar and cinnamon rim. I wasn't sure about that but it turned out to be a good call. Starting off with one of those was good enough for me. I switched to the Evil Genius, Forsaken after that first drink. The service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The place seems kind of small but they have a patio when the weather is nice. They also have plenty of flat screens. They have some great happy hour specials. It is definitely a place we will frequent.

Was excited to bring 2 colleagues to Guppy's for their first time. We went on a Friday afternoon for lunch at 12:30. It was busy but not packed - there was 1 waiter & 1 waitress. We ended up waiting for over an hour with only our drinks & had to ask for our order to go.

Would have taken a picture but I devoured our burgers. Split the French onion and maple burger with the dude. Too. Die. For. Delicious :) (cool bartender). I asked the dude if he had anything to add to my review and he said "no, I'm too busy eating my food". And then he proceeded to tell me, "wow the bacon is a quarter inch thick...so good!". Need I say more?

"Excellent burgers. Nice appetizers and beer selection. Other food good as well. the meal was tasty. But don't try using a Guppy's gift card. Won't accept it. Being turned down to use of the gift card in front of your friends is a little embarrassing

HORRIBLE, the one bartender is very unpleasent, the food is over priced and the manager was too busy cooking to come talk.

This place is perfect at being a friendly bar with good bar food. We received great service from beginning to end. The food was good we took advantage of the, prime rib special for $16. We also ordered the French onion burger and it was really good. They have an interesting selection of draft beers. And it's just an all-around great neighborhood bar. Recommend checking it out at least once.

We decided to come back here after a really good meal over the summer. This meal sealed the deal that we would not be back. My best friend ordered the french onion soup, which had been awesome. This came out luke warm, bland with no taste. My mom and I split the "Berry salad" which consisted of a plate of warm spinach leaves, a few strawberries around the plate, a little vinaigrette and some walnuts (for $8!!). For dinner my BF got the Guiness-stout stew which was a bowl full of mashed potatoes, some tomato based sauce and two pieces of meat, nothing like it's presented on the menu. My mom and I both got the salmon which was supposed to have a mango salsa with a tomato and asparagus salad. The tom/asp salad consisted of 3 slices of tomato, 2 stalks of asparagus with some vinaigrette dressing. No salsa. My fish was ok, while my mom's had a distinct fishy taste, so she sent it back. Upon speaking to the waitress heading to the bathroom, I was informed the chef said he would NOT comp the meal for my mom. I was mortified. The fish was definitely not good. When I was spoke to the waitress on my way back to the table, she said "Would you like to speak to the Head Chef? He's right here." He was on the line, with a laptop open reading a book. The beer menu is underwhelming and the treatment was definitely a smack in the face. We'll stick to Capone's - never a bad meal, great beer selection and if the food isn't right, they'll fix it no questions asked. Eaters beware!

First, to John S. They serve food sourced locally and that includes the beer. All PA crafts. If you want Coors Light or Bud perhaps Steppys down the street is more your speed. Now, on to the review. The food was pretty good. I had some expectations going in as I know some people who have been there so I had the lowdown before getting there. They have Poutine, hard to find outside of Canada and it was better than any I have had up there. The Wings (we got the Hot Honey) were good too, way better than anything Buffalo Wild Wings has to offer. I got the WowWee Burger. I was cooked perfectly and you can definitely tell they use grass fed beef. I don't eat anything but that these days so I know the difference. Caramel Crunch cake for desert was awesome too. Our waiter was new so he had to go back and ask about the answers to some of our questions but that was perfectly understandable. Service was great. The only negative was that the soda gun was acting up so my friends coke came out as mostly water but they were already on the phone getting someone out to fix it so that is good.

We have tried so so hard to love this place... But sadly we are giving up. Here are the PROs - 98 percent of the time the food is tasty. The bartender is very personable and attentive. The atmosphere is colorful and casual. Here is the big CON that is starting to outweigh the pros - SERVICE. I have been in there several hours waiting on meals at times. The food is good, like I said, but the time to wait for food at any establishment should not be this long. The concept is great, but I really think some of the service issues need to be evaluated.

It was ok- we wanted fajitas. It said they had them on the online menu- alas no such luck! We got an enchilada which wasn't bad, the veggies inside weren't cooked- but overall it wasn't bad- the guacamole was watery, I was told it was because of the tomatoes? And the chips could have been a bit less cooked- don't get me wrong wasn't overly bad- but could be better.

So my wife and I go to a new restaurant/bar that opened about a month ago in East Norriton, just outside of Norristown. There are signs about no preservatives, organic food, etc. on the wall behind the bar so you figure they are paying some attention to the food and it stands a good chance of being edible and maybe even good. Wrong! I had the Pappardelle with broccoli rabe and sausage which sounded really good. When it shows up, the pappardelle noodles are all stuck together in clumps and the whole bowl of food is swimming in olive oil. It was pretty much inedible. My wife had Short Ribs with macaroni and cheese. The tiny piece of beef was tasty but the macaroni and cheese was tasteless, crusty and dried out. The other down side for me was that they have draft beer but just a bunch of yuppie fancy drafts. Not a Coors light, Bud light. Miller light to be found. The noise level from chit chat is very high because of the design of the space and when the band started to play, it was intolerable. I give this place 2 thumbs down and I think it will probably last as long as the other 2 restaurants that were at this location... Around 15 minutes.

This is the second time my fiance and I have been to the new Guppy's. The first time we went was right when they had first opened and the food was somewhat tasteless. I had the veggie burger, which, despite all the toppings, didn't seem to have much flavor. My fiance had the Godfather, which he found disappointing due to the lack of sausage on the sandwich. We decided that we would give it a second try because we really want to love it being a new bar/restaurant in our area that wasn't PJ's. The atmosphere is great and our server was very sweet, but that's the end of the positive review. My fiance ordered the Wowee burger and I ordered the Pescatori and we shared the taco crab dip for an appetizer. The $11 crab dip was nothing special. When the meals came out, they looked really good, they just didn't taste so good. The burger, ordered medium, came out well done. My fiance said that was his main complaint, but otherwise the flavors were okay. My $18 Pescatori was a disaster. The red sauce was so bland that it felt like I was eating pasta without any sauce on it, aside from all the salt I put on. There were a decent amount of shrimp and mussels, but zero crab meat. I picked through the whole thing trying to find just a little to justify it being in the description, but I found nothing but little pieces of parmesan cheese. The mojitos were good, but the $8.50 price tag seemed a little high. We were very disappointed by the food and probably won't return which is a shame because we were hopeful!

Great homemade veggie burger, tasty guacamole, all PA beers on tap, and incredible service! We only stopped in for takeout and a quick drink, but both the bartender and our waitress were spectacular. We'll definitely be back.

I have eaten at Guppy's II five times already, and they've only been open a month! You could say I like it a lot, but that would be an understatement. I really love it. The staff are all friendly and helpful without being pushy. The live music one Friday evening was very entertaining. I'm trying my best to taste everything on the menu so I can attest to all items. Based on the poutine, salmon tacos, BLT, veggie burger, and Kathy Romano wrap, the rating would be a perfect five stars. You can't beat any of those things. I have never had a veggie burger I liked, and I LOVE theirs. Also, their desserts are phenomenal so save room. I was a little less than impressed with the short rib mac and cheese. As another reviewer noted, it was a bit drier than I expected a five-cheese blend to be. However, when I mixed it with the BBQ sauce on the ribs, it was better. Finally, I'm not a beer drinker, but I know my husband ordered a regular Miller Lite when we were there, so the note about only fancy beers is a bit inaccurate. They have a large selection for those with more discerning beer palates. The interior looks like it belongs down a side street in Old City Philly instead of way out in the suburbs. The fresh/ local menu redesigned by Chef Jose Garces is great. I'm already counting down to my next time to eat there!

Guppy's is BY FAR the best place in East Norriton/Conshy for great food, friendly staff, and a fun night out. Their food is actually healthy and very well-priced. You would think it just has bar food, but dont be fooled. Their menu is fantastic. The owner comes out when you get your food and asks how everything tastes. you can tell he genuinely cares about his restaurant. Go to Guppy's! you wont regret it.

Guppies is kinda going down hill. The breakfast panini was bland, fell apart before the first bite. Nothing on the inside was melted. The coffee was TERRIBLE! Had to ask for the toast & sausage since they didn't accompany the eggs & potatoes. The Bloody Mary bar was hurting. Some undercooked bacon, warm pearl onions, giant pickles instead of the usual mini gherkins, & of course the most favorite, beef jerky. The big gup burger & fries were good, which was the only redeeming factor. Can't say I am going to go back for brunch but will give dinner a go.

Guppy's II has a pretty nice beer selection as well as a pretty sweet food menu. I've had their poutine fries, chicken & spinach crispito, chicken pot pie and mac and cheese burger - all of it was fantastic. The chicken pot pie is pretty huge and you could probably split one between 2 people. I do have to say that the soup base is much more broth-y than it is creamy but still really delicious! The mac and cheese burger is basically a patty slathered with mac and cheese...you can't go wrong with that! As far as the drinks go, it seems like they're pretty big on letting you sample the beer before you actually order. I've been on the receiving end of some dirty looks when asking to sample a draft so it's awesome that they're all for it here. The service can be hit or miss in the regular dining area but the folks at the bar are pretty on point so I recommend grabbing a seat there.

I've been working across the street from this place for almost a year, and I finally tried it. I wish I had come in sooner! I loved the decor inside. The tables and chairs were nice; I'm a fan of wood furniture :) Our server was really friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and was so good! I highly recommend the poutine and Gup's chowder. We also got sliders and fried pickles. So yummy! I wish the desserts were listed on the main menu (I probably should have asked them while placing my order). I deeply regret not asking beforehand because I would've tried to save space for dessert :( All the desserts our server mentioned sounded so enticing, but I really didn't have any room for it! Now I know (and now YOU know, too) for next time. We're definitely going to be regulars at this place. Great restaurant!

Went to this place for lunch as it is close to where I work. The place is located in a strip mall right by a Friendly's. The inside looks nice but, being in a wheelchair, every table inside is high and every chair is a high barstool: the waitress told me the only low tables in the place are the picnic tables outside. This would be fine if I could actually pull my chair under the table and it wasn't extremely hot and humid out. The saving grace of my lunch there was the food. I got a lunch combo special which consisted of a Caesar Salad, Bay Fries, and Chicken Fingers. Each was delicious and made perfectly. The waitress was really nice and did check up on me as it was really hot outside and was essentially by myself. I have no issues with the food or the service. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of a table inside. If there was a table I could use inside this gastropub, I would definitely be a regular here.

Came to the East Norrition location for the time because a friend of mine told me about this place and I was nearby so I stopped in. The bartenders were too busy talking to each other and took a while to acknowledge that I even sat down. Had to ask for a menu and drink. The only thing good about the place were all the appetizers are $5 for happy hour I ordered the Chicken Nachos... They were Ok, The atmosphere was cool, had a few flat screens at the bar to watch. Over all I think the place is whack just somewhere to grab a quick bite if your hungry

Came here on a Saturday night, the atmosphere is pretty relaxing for a bar after 10 which I liked because that's what I prefer. We ordered chicken wings and nachos for appetizers, the wings were pretty good but the nachos were a little on the dry side so I wasn't a fan. The server wasn't very friendly so I was a little unimpressed, but I would give it another try.

Summary: This is a pub. Let's leave it at that. I wouldn't come here again expecting gastropub food. Try their burgers - they are good. The service is also good. Even though they screwed up (read-on), I would give them another shot and visit with different expectations. Atmosphere: - Came here on a summer Friday night with one other person. - The atmosphere is lively. There's no acoustics in here so all of people and music bounce around the large room. - This is the place to come with a big group, but not on a date. The noise qualifies it to be family-friendly....but it is a bar. Beer: - They serve local PA brews. - To try many of the beers, ask for a flight! Food: - The food was disappointing. We were excited to find a place that touts itself as a locally sourced craft beer pub in Norristown...read again...in Norristown, but the dog didn't live up to the bark. - We ordered the salmon tacos, chicken fingers, homemade papparedell and the Big Gup burger. Where to start? - The salmon tacos came out on plain soft tortillas with some arugula, slivers of green peppers and a bland white sauce. It was a bland dish. I asked the waitress for sweet corn and/or red onions to liven up the dish. They didn't have either. - The chicken fingers came with milky honey mustard. Good if you enjoy less pungent mustards. - The papparedell was gooey and mushy - this was sent back. - The Big Gup burger was actually really good. It came out cooked how I asked and I enjoyed it. The second burger we received as a replacement for the pasta, was also quite good. - Overall, we were very disappointed with the expectations set by the marketing...everything is local including some of the produce and the beer. A lot of their produce is sourced from Maple Acres Farm in Norristown/Lafayette Hill area. When we were speaking with who I think was the front of the house manager he tried to explain to us that the avocados used for their guacamole was from Maple Acres farm. PENNSYLVANIA DOES NOT GROW AVOCADOS. This left us with the impression that this place is trying really hard to be that "local-farm-to-table-everything" place when in reality it should be "we-pride-ourselves-in-obtaining-xx%-of-our-food-locally". This left us with the impression that they use this "locally sourced" bandaid as their spiel for everything....even if it may not be true. Service: - Our waitress was attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. - Impressed by the front of the house manager's persistence in changing our experience even after we already decided we have enough. - Once the front of the house manager realized our experience wasn't going well, he stepped in immediately. While we were not impressed with him blatantly lying to us about the source of produce, we were impressed with his relentlessness at trying to make it up to us...by communicating the problems with the chef, bringing out something else, comping the pasta and comping our dessert. Which by the way, was a really delicious cake from Sysco...surprised for such a LOCAL-LOCAL-LOCAL place they didn't make their own with the flour made from the produce at Maple Acres Farm *wink*. Ad-hoc: - There is parking in the plaza.

I have to admit, I just keep coming back. I was craving a burger the other night and it was Guppy's burger at that. I've tried different things here, but I always go back to the Wowee Burger. I am disappointed they stopped serving sweet potato fries. I can't imagine why anyone would ever do that! I started requesting onion rings instead - it's an okay replacement. My husband thinks they're seriously overpriced, but we continue to come back so whose really the fool? Thanks for being there for me when I want a day to splurge and eat awesome greasy food!!!

  • Brian W.

Great place for drinks and hanging out after work. They used to have a great happy hour from 4-7, but it's now from 4-6, which stinks and probably will hurt them in the long run. Many people I know frequented it for drinks after work (5 or 6pm) but now that the happy hour has changed, we may not go anymore. The food is just mediocre. Nice bartenders and drinks.

Despite being an assault on the senses, Guppy's the sequel provides some tasty food to a much needed town. We could barely hear each other though we sat a mere 2 feet apart. We could barely look at each other because the sun coming in the windows was literally blinding and the shades did nada to help it. So there we sat, looking down at the table, not talking until we got our food. Me, the veggie burger, which defies any healthy claims but sure is tasty. Him, the Godfather sandwich, which was devoured with a smile. With some good brews, we found ourselves having a pretty good meal. It would have been way better if not for the sound and sun issues. Maybe they will get that worked out so we can go back again. Until then, we just can't.

Everything is super fresh and you can taste the difference. No freezers. Their poutine fries are amazing. Just wish they gave you more. Burgers are 5 stars. Brunch is my favorite. Best breakfast sausage I've ever had, and the Bloody Mary bar is seriously impressive.

  • Patricia D.

A lot of things on the menu sound really good but the food just isn't as tasty as it seems like it should be. I keep trying and keep wondering why I bother.

  • J P.

Very good burgers and very fresh food overall. The poutine is a rare find and is worth the trip alone. Great local craft beer selection to make this an all around solid restaurant!

  • Brenda J.

I added another star because the bartender is friendly and has a great smile! This rating is based solely on impression. WHY IS IT DEAD HERE ON THURSDAY! Even the music is low with no energy. This is such a promising place but needs a serious PROMOTER or EVENT PLANNER. I don't recognize anyone who was working here when they first opened. And that's a shame because I felt that ALL their personalities worked well together anf for the business. Stop in and check it out one evening.

  • Ashley V.

I've been to the East Norriton location a few times and it was pleasant, however, this time I sat at the bar.... I was very disappointed. I've been in the food industry several years (previous waitress and bartender for a busy local bar) and I know the wait staff can really make or break the experience and this bartender definitely broke the experience. She was unfriendly and it made me not want to waste my money. Meh.

    (2)
  • Kyle E.

I've been here a few times with co-workers for happy hour. Seems like the service gets worse every time. So much so, we gave up on the place and now take our business elsewhere. Beer selection is sub par and the food is very hit or miss. It is unfortunate because I really wanted to like this place.

    (2)
  • Greg F.

Been there several times and have noticed a steady decline in the food quality. Not that it is terrible, just nothing special to make me want to go back anytime soon. With regards to the service, I had several issues with the server bringing me the wrong beer. They have a good selection of beer but need to have their servers better informed or just write stuff down.

  • Jeremy B.

I wanted to try this place for lunch based mainly on other Yelp reviews. They can be hard to find... tucked away in the corner of a nondescript strip mall. I had their "pick 3" lunch special and chose a cup of the Guppy chowder, guacamole, and fish tacos. All freshly prepared, nicely presented, and very tasty! I also tried their bacon cheese fries - hand cut, perfectly crispy, with smoked bacon, cheese, and a drizzle of ranch dressing. This ain't no health food, but if you have some calories to use up, these fries are awesome! My girlfriend had French Onion burger was very good (I tried it)... they clearly pay attention to their meat supplier! Glad we found this place. Definitely a good lunch or dinner option for simple, fresh, well prepared upscale bar food. We will be back.

  • K C.

Love the owner's intention to use fresh, never frozen, local - "when possible" ingrediants. Came in and stood there while four different servers looked right at us and walked right by, no smile, no acknowledgement. The male bartendar knew NOTHING about any of the beer selection. Asked him what would be a good beer to go with my meal and he said "any of them". What planet am I on? If you are going to have norhing but specialty beers you better make sure your staff is trained on each of them! And a written description of each beer on the board is needed. Sorry but not every beer goes with every meal and not every beer goes in a standard pint glass. Food took way too long to come out.

  • Kristin J.

Great Food and Beer Selection! Fun place to eat and enjoy good company :)

    (4)
  • Kristen J.

This place baffles me. They have a great beer menu and the food is always fantastic. But there is some kind of disconnect between the wait staff and the kitchen that makes the service painfully slow and on occasion the food comes out barely warm. People are nice and friendly, but we've been "forgotten" several times while either waiting to order or waiting to ask for the check and sometimes another server has had to help out when ours has gone MIA for a while. I hope they can figure it out because I want to love this place.
